Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Data Center Power and Control Team in New London, CT. You will design mechanical components and assemblies, perform test validation, and work with cross-functional teams to transfer designs into production.

You will mentor peers, conduct design reviews, and ensure documentation packages meet quality and regulatory standards while optimizing for manufacturability and cost.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience with production processes and DFMA focus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and project management for mechanical design and test validation.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Manufacturing and Engineering during concept to production.
  • Maintain existing designs, perform DFMA cost studies, and support design reviews.
  • Design mechanical systems using molding, forming, casting and extrusion.
  • Use 2D/3D SolidWorks for detailed design analyses (kinematic, structural, thermal, FEM/FEA).
  • Coordinate rapid-prototype validation with tooling and external design partners.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews and ensure documentation packages meet standards.
