Job summary

Red 6, a bold AR tech startup, seeks a mechanical design engineer to translate high-level needs into manufacturable solutions across optical and mechanical subsystems. You will define requirements, create BOMs and drawings, and drive designs from prototypes to production while collaborating with design, engineering, and project mgmt.

You will apply precision-tolerance methods, use FEA/CFD tools, and contribute to defense-grade products with rigorous verification plans and manufacturability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years in hands-on product design and prototyping for precision/mechanical/electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience with cross-functional teams to solve complex product-design challenges.
• Strong knowledge of 3D mathematics, modeling, and simulation.
• DFM/DFA, tolerance management, and experience with PCBs and flexible circuits.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering and design reviews within a cross-functional team.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and review vendor proposals for compliance.
• Define component-level requirements with stakeholders across disciplines.
• Plan simulation, modeling, and test activities through product lifecycle.
• Create production drawings and apply GD&T; ensure manufacturability.
• Collaborate to translate Industrial Design into manufacturable solutions.
• Drive design improvements addressing reliability and usability issues.
• Mature prototypes to production-ready designs and support verification.
• Ensure alignment with project schedules and cost constraints.
