Job summary

SSR, a leading engineering design, consulting firm, seeks an Engineer I in Tampa. You will apply standard design techniques on small projects, support analyses and drawings, and communicate with clients while developing toward responsible charge under senior engineers.

Responsibilities include developing design approaches, performing studies and load calculations, coordinating with architects and other disciplines, reviewing drawings, and assisting with project meetings and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college with four years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or selected segments of larger work, supporting analyses, drawings, coordination, and client communication under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Develop design approaches and concepts with oversight from the EOR; perform engineering studies and analyses using industry software.
  • Oversee preparation of drawings and documentation; ensure accuracy, neatness, and adherence to standards; review colleague work and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate equipment and design space requirements with the architect and other disciplines; communicate design requirements clearly.
  • Attend internal meetings and meetings with owners/clients/architects; document decisions and action items.
  • Coordinate with authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate construction, code, and government requirements.
  • Assist with discipline manhour budgets; plan work to schedule and report progress, risks, and needed changes to the project manager.
  • Perform studies, load calculations, and equipment selection appropriate to the project design; review work for technical accuracy before QA/QC.
  • Respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction; review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and observe installed construction; comment based on design specifications and codes.
  • Maintain detailed records of communications with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members; contribute to lessons learned.
  • Support training and mentoring of designers and EITs; maintain continuous learning on codes, software, and industry trends; assist PMs as needed.
