Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I, Mechanical at our Towson, MD headquarters. You will join a global tools team, contributing to design, prototyping, testing and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, performance and cost goals, while supporting manufacturing builds and field testing across multiple brands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• Computer literate; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, 2D/3D CAD, FEA.
• Ability to dissect a problem to help find the root cause and create a solution.
• Enjoys getting hands dirty and being involved in building, testing and debugging tools throughout the development cycle.
• Quality: use of statistical tools, process capability, DOE’s, stack‑ups, GD&T.
• Coordination of internal resources for testing and analysis.
• Enjoys full/fast-paced design cycles that average 2 years and a dynamic work environment.
• Possible international travel to visit manufacturing locations.

Responsibilities

• Support the design process to achieve quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives.
• Perform hands-on concept development, prototyping, product testing and data collection.
• Carry out stack-ups and system analysis for product assembly.
• Investigate design issues and test failures; implement corrective actions.
• Construct 3D models to evaluate design options.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define customer requirements and tests.
• Work with a core team to develop a product from start to finish with proper documentation.
• Support builds of engineering, manufacturing and pilot lots for long-term quality.
