Job summary

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) in Tampa Bay area is seeking an early-career Mechanical Engineer I/II to design, develop, test, and productionize mechanical and electro-mechanical products for aerospace, defense, industrial, and energy applications.

The role emphasizes hands-on work from concept through manufacturing, collaboration across disciplines, and participation in environmental/mil‑std testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 1+ year of experience in mechanical design of electronic & electrical products.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs and docs.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Hands-on with prototypes and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Create and update 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and production.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers.
• Research components, materials, and design alternatives.
• Support engineering changes and document control.
• Assist with environmental and MIL-STD testing as needed.
