Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to join a multi‑discipline team delivering complex systems for healthcare, energy, and science projects.

You will learn under experienced engineers, contribute to load calculations, layouts, and equipment sizing, and grow toward leading project efforts. You will participate in specification writing, client meetings, and construction support as your experience expands within a collaborative environment that values innovation and

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non‑academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with load calculations, system sizing and layouts.
• Determine equipment sizes and select equipment.
• Conduct field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
• Lead mechanical project teams as you gain experience.
• Write specifications and participate in client meetings and with other consultants.
• Support construction‑phase work.

Here’s Why We Need You

Within our team framework, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading mechanical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction‑phase work.

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
