Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I in our Madison, Wisconsin office to help design energy‑efficient building systems and advance sustainable solutions.

You will work under experienced engineers and contribute to a variety of projects across health care, labs, and critical facilities. Initial duties include load calculations, system sizing, equipment sizing, field surveys, and reviewing drawings, with progression toward leading mechanical teams and preparing

Qualifications

  • BSME/BSAE from ABET-accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities preferred.
  • EIT certification (FE exam) a plus.
  • Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings.
  • As you gain project experience, lead mechanical project teams, write specifications, participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and support construction-phase work.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Mechanical Engineer I
  • BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
  • EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
  • Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.
