Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to join our Phoenix office for Summer 2027.

You will help empower energy-efficient building solutions, perform load calculations, sizing layouts, equipment sizing, field surveys, and review shop drawings under experienced mentors. As you progress, you’ll lead mechanical project teams, write specifications, participate in client and consultant meetings, and support construction-phase activities, with opportunities for growth across

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings.
• Lead mechanical project teams as you gain experience, write specifications, participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and support construction-phase work.

Here’s Why We Need You

Within our team framework, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading mechanical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.
