Job summary

SmithGroup, an integrated design firm, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join the Ann Arbor team. You will analyze, design, and document HVAC, plumbing and related systems for healthcare, research labs, education and other critical facilities, and coordinate with designers and junior staff.

A bachelor's in Mechanical/Architectural Engineering is required, with 7+ years experience and PE; LEED AP preferred. Proficiency in Revit and TRACE 700, strong report writing, and a collaborative, hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of design and consulting experience for HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
• PE license; LEED AP preferred; strong Revit and TRACE 700 skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design and document HVAC systems and controls.
• Prepare technical reports and system assessments.
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders and conduct site visits.
• Coordinate mechanical designers and junior staff on projects.
• Support construction visits and owner punch lists.
• Develop planning and design concepts and presentation drawings.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
