Job summary

SSOE is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to design state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech facilities in the Austin area. You will work with other engineers, designers, and project managers to create, analyze, and refine designs that meet client specifications and schedule requirements.

The role emphasizes detailed engineering with AutoCAD as the primary drafting tool, familiarity with HVAC and building systems, and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree required.
• Active PE license or ability to obtain quickly preferred.
• 4+ years of mechanical system design experience using AutoCAD.
• Experience with Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO a plus.
• Knowledge of HVAC, chillers, boilers, pumps, exhaust, and related systems.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA codes and local building codes.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work under strict quality and change-control processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed engineering designs, technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Design industrial and domestic piping, HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, and related components.
• Perform load analyses, pump head curves, pressure drop, and energy calculations.
• Ensure CAD standards and quality control are met across projects.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers.
• Lead design reviews and manage RFI responses and submittals.
