The Mechanical Engineer performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to service requests and equipment breakdowns, and troubleshoots a variety of HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, and commercial kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate is a skilled, dependable, hands‑on technician who takes pride in maintaining equipment to a high standard and providing responsive service to hotel operations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on hotel mechanical systems and equipment.

  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including fixtures, valves, pumps, drains, water heaters, and domestic hot‑water systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial kitchen and food‑service equipment, including ovens, ranges, fryers, grills, griddles, steamers, dishwashers, warming equipment, mixers, slicers, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment involving mechanical, electrical, gas, refrigeration, and control components within the scope of training, certification, and authorization.
  • Respond promptly to engineering work orders and service calls from guestrooms, restaurants, banquet operations, housekeeping, food and beverage, and other hotel departments.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair solutions or the need for outside vendor support.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment conditions, and parts used.
  • Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, kitchens, equipment, guestrooms, and public areas to identify maintenance needs before failures occur.
  • Monitor equipment operation and identify opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency, and operating costs.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of commonly used mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and kitchen‑equipment parts and supplies.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service vendors as directed by Engineering leadership.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe mechanical rooms, engineering workspaces, and equipment areas.
  • Follow all hotel safety policies, OSHA requirements, applicable building and fire codes, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Assist with hotel emergency response and fire/life‑safety procedures as required.
  • Support hotel operations during high‑occupancy periods, conventions, banquets, special events, and other peak business periods.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to guests and colleagues when responding to maintenance requests.
  • Communicate significant equipment issues, safety concerns, and repair recommendations to Engineering leadership.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Mechanical Engineer may be required to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.
