Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 0-1 year of engineering, manufacturing, robotics, automation, maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and automated equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work on night shift.

Responsibilities

• Monitor AMR operation and movement to ensure continuous production.
• Respond to AMR interruptions and help restore operation.
• Inspect AMRs and surrounding areas to identify causes of downtime.
• Perform approved troubleshooting and recovery procedures.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, IT, Production or AMR vendor support when needed.

We are seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support our AMR systems during night-shift operations. This position is ideal for a recent engineering graduate or an early-career engineer interested in gaining hands-on experience with automated manufacturing systems, robotics, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer will monitor and support AMR operations throughout the facility and respond to equipment interruptions to help maintain continuous material flow and production operations.

• AMR Monitoring & Support: Monitor the operation and movement of AMR robots throughout the manufacturing facility to ensure proper and continuous operation.
• Troubleshooting: Respond when an AMR becomes stopped, stuck, hung up, immobile, or otherwise unable to complete its assigned route or task.
• Initial Problem Assessment: Inspect AMRs and surrounding conditions to identify potential causes of interruptions, including obstructions, positioning issues, mechanical concerns, sensor-related issues, or route interference.
• Equipment Recovery: Perform approved troubleshooting and recovery procedures to safely return AMRs to operation when possible.
• Escalation: Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, IT, Production, or AMR vendor technical support when an issue requires additional assistance.
• Routine Inspections: Perform routine visual and operational checks of AMRs and related equipment to identify potential concerns before they result in downtime.
• Downtime Reduction: Help minimize disruptions to material movement and production by responding promptly to AMR-related issues.
• Root Cause Support: Assist with reviewing recurring AMR interruptions and identifying opportunities to improve reliability, routes, equipment conditions, or operating procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of AMR issues, troubleshooting actions, recurring problems, downtime, and corrective actions.
• Continuous Improvement: Support engineering projects and improvement activities related to facility automation, AMR performance, material flow, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety procedures and ensure AMR troubleshooting and recovery activities are performed safely.
• Cross-Functional Support: Communicate with Production, Production Control, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, and other departments regarding AMR interruptions that could impact operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Approximately 0-1 year of engineering, manufacturing, robotics, automation, maintenance, or related experience preferred, but not required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and automated equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to recognize equipment abnormalities and determine when an issue should be escalated.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions during night-shift operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with production, maintenance, engineering, and technical support teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 12:15 AM, with weekends and overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship, co-op, or work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to AMRs, AGVs, robotics, automation systems, or automated material-handling equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical or automated equipment.
• Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
• Familiarity with sensors, mechanical components, electrical controls, PLC-controlled equipment, or industrial automation is a plus.
