Job summary

General Matter in Los Angeles is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, build, test, and own mechanisms and mechanical structures enabling enrichment technology. You will collaborate with electrical, software, chemical, and nuclear engineers to deliver integrated solutions through the full product lifecycle.

The role requires strong CAD/FEA skills, GD&T expertise, and 3+ years in mechanical engineering, with a focus on cost, performance, and manufacturability optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficient in CAD and GD&T for manufacturing drawings.
• FEA proficiency.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams throughout product lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanisms and mechanical structures for enrichment and own them through the entire product lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, qualification, and release to production.
• Support optimization of designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
• Functionally test hardware through thermal, vibe, shock, durability, etc.
• Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations.
• Participate in design review and provide feedback to ensure design objectives are met.
• Work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and nuclear engineers to ensure designs are integrated with system requirements.
