Job summary

Yale University in New Haven seeks a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical direction, project management, and analytical expertise for campus mechanical and energy systems.

You will collaborate with planning staff, operations, and consulting design professionals to develop innovative projects that reduce energy use and advance Yale’s climate goals.

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering with five years of related experience is required; EIT, CEM, or LEED AP credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience with campus energy systems preferred.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate with consultants and design professionals.
  • Knowledge of building automation and cogeneration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the formulation, design, construction, and commissioning of capital projects.
  • Reviews the work of design professionals with respect to objectives, operability, maintainability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manages outside engineering consultants and contractors to ensure high-quality delivery within schedule and budget.
  • Assists University operations staff in troubleshooting system issues and optimizes performance.
  • Contributes to budget development and advancement of campus energy initiatives.
