Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, through the Future Forward group, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to help design the endoscope system for a novel robotic platform. This early-member role participates from prototyping through clinical trials toward product launch, emphasizing collaboration, robust documentation, and hands-on build-and-test work.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience designing complex mechanical assemblies.
• Hands-on experience assembling and testing complex mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in CAD with strong preference for SolidWorks.
• Experience applying finite element analysis to design.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components of endoscopes including pullwires and transmission components.
• Work with vendors to deliver initial prototypes through production parts.
• Assemble and test early prototypes and use results to improve next round of designs.
• Conduct modeling and simulation tasks to inform design decisions.
• Finalize mechanical requirements and specifications for the design.
• Design tooling and fixtures for prototyping and testing.
• Support documentation of designs and test results.
• Generate design concepts for next generation endoscopic devices.
