Job summary

Instron is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the EM division in Norwood, MA. You will design small mechanisms, test fixtures, and full machine systems, coordinating with multi-disciplined engineers and vendors to meet specifications and schedules.

The role requires 3–6 years of design experience in electromechanical products, proficiency with SolidWorks, GD&T, and knowledge of manufacturing processes; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering with 3–6 years of experience in the design and development of electromechanical products.
  • Experience in machine design that has incorporated machine elements, structural components, kinematic principles and/or mechanisms, electromechanical component packaging, design for cost, and design for manufacturability.
  • Proficiency with CAD and FEA design software such as SolidWorks (or equivalent), GD&T, BOMs, mechanical drawings, ECOs.

Responsibilities

  • Design small mechanisms and test fixtures to more complex full machine and system designs.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplined engineers, vendors, and other departments to meet design specifications and schedules.
  • Contribute to customer research, design, build, test, reporting and optimization phases.
