Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Peoria, IL to lead the design of next‑gen electric drive mining trucks from concept through production. You’ll own mechanical systems, create CAD models, and drive cross‑functional decisions to meet performance and cost targets.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, testing and suppliers to validate designs and ensure production readiness. A BS in engineering and 5–7 years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 5–7 years of engineering analysis, design or mining experience.
• CAD/CAE proficiency desirable.
• Lean Engineering principles beneficial.
• Change Management experience desirable.
• Cross-functional team experience required.
• Professional registration or society membership beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components for electric drive mining trucks from concept to production.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings per internal standards.
• Present concepts to peers, stakeholders and management.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, testing and suppliers.
• Develop and execute validation plans to verify performance and reliability.
• Release parts/assemblies into production with required documentation.
• Support process improvements and personal development.
