Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Sunnyvale is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and develop components and systems for space products. You will work with engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure builds meet specifications and quality standards.

You will generate drawings, participate in design reviews, and contribute to multi-disciplinary product teams. A Bachelor's in mechanical engineering and CAD tool experience are required; US citizenship is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical modeling tools such as SolidWorks/CREO and drafting.
  • Ability to work in a reciprocal and team-based environment.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Must be a US Citizen to perform the task.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of other engineers to research, design, analyze, and develop components, assemblies, and systems for Lockheed Martin Space products.
  • Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
  • Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
  • Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, interacting with engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
  • Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility nearby.

In This Role, You Will

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical modeling tools, such as Solidworks/CREO and drafting.

  • Must be a US Citizen to perform the task
Desired Skills
  • Experience designing solar arrays.
  • Background in composite structures and mechanisms design
  • User of CREO CAD software.
  • Familiar with releasing drawings in EPDM. .
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Design Principles including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Fundamental understanding of structures, mechanisms and materials
  • Desire to work with propulsion, structures, mechanisms, thermal, analysis and all things Lockheed Martin Space!

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $88100.00 - $163700.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
