Job summary

Persona AI, Inc. is building humanoid robots for heavy industry, focusing on data-collection hardware and operator interfaces. The Mechanical Engineer will rapidly prototype handheld UMI devices and later contribute to precision engineering of exoskeleton-related hardware, working closely with software and EE teams.

You will design force-aware frames, integrate sensors, and ensure manufacturability through rapid prototyping and CNC processes, while prioritizing human factors and durability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with multi-axis kinematic systems and precision mechanisms.
• Experience integrating load cells and 6-axis F/T sensors.
• Human factors ergonomic design experience.
• Prototyping with rapid in-house 3D printing and traditional machining.
• DFM, DFA, and GD&T knowledge.
• Hardware-in-the-loop enclosure design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype UMI hardware frames, grippers, and mounting rigs.
• Integrate sensors, encoders, and force sensors into hardware.
• Prototype with 3D printing and CNC/manufacturing processes.
• Design for assembly and manufacturing to optimize tooling and assembly steps.
• Consider IP ratings and operator ergonomics during design.
• Collaborate with electrical and sensor teams for integration.
