Job summary

Ramboll is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for their Data Center Facilities team based in Valhalla, NY or Los Angeles, CA. In this full-time role, you will be tasked with developing HVAC mechanical designs for mission-critical environments, including data centers.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include creating technical drawings, performing HVAC engineering calculations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring project timelines are met.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience at a design engineering firm, with mission‑critical design experience preferred.
• EIT or PE licensure is a plus.

Job Description

At Ramboll you will work with a dedicated team that pioneers Data Center Strategy, Planning, Design, Integration, Commissioning, and Testing. This role focuses on creating flexible, mission‑critical environments for data centers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conceptualize, and create HVAC mechanical designs for new and retrofit buildings/projects in mission‑critical environments.
• Design ductwork and piping for HVAC systems.
• Design central plant cooling systems.
• Perform HVAC engineering calculations to support design work.
• Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and vendors.
• Ensure project timelines are met and budgets are controlled.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• EIT or PE licensure is a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience at a design engineering firm, with mission‑critical design experience preferred.
• Strong grasp of HVAC engineering concepts, both theoretical and practical.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and knowledgeable of project design steps and requirements.

Salary Range

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000 per year. Compensation will vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation.
