Job summary

Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc. in New York City seeks a Mechanical Engineer to help design and refine mechanical systems for diverse building projects across healthcare, education, and commercial sectors.

You will perform calculations, select equipment, and prepare drawings while coordinating with clients and other engineers to ensure code compliance, robust performance, and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects.
• 3+ years designing HVAC systems for buildings.
• Strong AutoCAD and Revit capabilities.
• Strong fundamental understanding of NYC and national building codes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• EIT license highly desirable.
• Analytical and communication skills with the capacity for teamwork.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of HVAC design for residential, schools, higher education, labs and commercial interiors is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, and controls.
• Perform system design calculations and load calculations.
• Select equipment for building systems.
• Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems.
• Report writing and specification preparation.
• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to discuss design issues and needs.
