Job summary

ASRC Federal Advanced Research in Sterling Heights, Michigan, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support autonomy vehicle integrations. The role focuses on design, integration, and testing of systems for vehicle structures and armor, with opportunities to influence subsystems and propulsion-related components.

The candidate will use Creo CAD, Windchill and reverse engineering tools, participate in First Article Inspections, onsite testing, and validation efforts.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college, university or equivalent, and 5 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS, 25% annually.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, integration, manufacturing and installation of new systems and equipment to the vehicle’s internal and external structure.
• Modify and relocate existing automotive systems as a result of configuration changes.
• Use CAD (Creo) to create 3-D models for concept analysis, engineering solutions, testing and drawings.
• Use measuring devices (Ferro arm) and rapid prototyping for reverse engineering or creating models.
• Provide engineering services from design inception to final production release including prototype fabrication, validation and onsite testing.
• Perform First Article Inspection and ensure Quality Assurance.
