Job summary

Vertiv in Westerville, Ohio seeks an experienced NPI Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive development of next-generation thermal management products, including liquid cooling systems, chillers, AHUs, and CRAC units. You will own mechanical design from prototype through pilot run, collaborating with a world-class engineering team to deliver products that keep critical infrastructure running.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in NPD for thermal/HVAC (Liquid cooling, Chillers, AHUs, CRAC)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's with Thermal specialization is a plus)
  • Advanced CAD skills Creo preferred
  • Thermal systems design experience including component sizing and system-level design
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones with cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of Electrical, Controls, and Hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of safety standards (UL, CE, and industry compliance)
  • Ability to align engineering decisions with company objectives
  • Excellent English communication — written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development for new thermal products through all NPDI gate phases
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges, optimizing for manufacturability, cost, and quality
  • Drive prototype builds, pilot runs, and testing for thermal systems including component selection and sizing
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams across regions, partnering with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Controls Engineering
  • Create and review critical documentation including CAD drawings, FMEA/DFA/DFM/DFX specs, and Bills of Material
  • Partner with Engineering Leadership to ensure product development meets strategic business objectives

Overview

We are looking for an experienced NPI Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of next-generation thermal management products — including liquid cooling systems, chillers, air handling units, and precision cooling (CRAC) units. You will own the mechanical design from prototype through pilot run, collaborating with a world-class engineering team to deliver products that keep the world's most critical infrastructure running.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development for new thermal products through all NPDI gate phases
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges, optimizing designs for manufacturability, cost, and quality
  • Drive prototype builds, pilot runs, and testing for thermal systems including component selection and sizing (pumps, heat exchangers, control valves, piping)
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams across regions, partnering with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Controls Engineering
  • Create and review critical documentation including CAD drawings, FMEA/DFA/DFM/DFX specs, and Bills of Material
  • Partner with Engineering Leadership to ensure product development meets strategic business objectives
