Sulzer is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the United States to design, develop, and implement innovative products and technologies. You will lead mechanical design from feasibility through production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a BSME or equivalent with 1+ years in mechanical engineering, strong CAD skills (Inventor/SolidWorks/Creo/NX), GD&T knowledge, and experience with assemblies and testing.

Qualifications

• BSME or equivalent with extensive mechanical engineering responsibilities.
• 1+ years in mechanical engineering within rotating equipment, R&D, or advanced engineering.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in development environments.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and assembly.

• Support mechanical design and development of new products and technologies.
• Lead mechanical design improvements for cost reduction or consolidation.
• Generate concepts, prototypes, and design alternatives.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and tolerance analysis.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation.
• Conduct design verification, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
• Review and check engineering documentation, specs and change requests.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design and development of new products and technologies.
• Lead mechanical design of product improvements for cost out or consolidation of similar technologies.
• Generate and evaluate engineering concepts, prototypes, and design alternatives.
• Performa engineering calculations, simulations, and tolerance analysis.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Conduct design verification, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
• Review and check engineering documentation, specifications and change requests.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills

Required: BSME Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering or 10-years of experience in an engineering position performing the duties and responsibilities listed above.

Experience:

• 1+ years of mechanical engineering in rotating equipment product development, R&D, or advanced engineering environments.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in a development environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and assembly.
• Experience with engineering test methods, verification protocols, and data analysis.

Required Skills:

• Advanced proficiency with CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and tolerance stack up analysis.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with excellent formula and engineering tool creation in Excel spreadsheets.

Desirable Skills:

• Strong understanding of mechanical system design, material science and component selection.
• Microsoft PowerPoint knowledge and presentation creation.
• ERP software (Visual or SAP) understanding of BOM structures
• Experience with FEA and other engineering simulation tools.

Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000 USD
