Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support both engineering and field operations at our Pasadena, TX facility. The role balances hands-on field service with engineering tasks, reporting to customers, and shop support, with onboarding training provided.

You'll engage in on-site maintenance, troubleshooting electromechanical equipment, and contribute to safety initiatives while developing cross-disciplinary skills for long-term growth within Sulzer.

Qualifications

  • 0–4 years of Electrical Engineering experience or related field.
  • Exposure to electromechanical equipment, motors, transformers and switchgear.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on field and shop work.
  • Strong written communication for technical and customer reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site field service, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on electromechanical equipment.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, timely field service reports to customers.
  • Support shop-based electromechanical projects and repairs.
  • Prioritize and comply with internal safety initiatives and procedures.
  • Participate hands-on in day-to-day operational activities.
  • Support project coordination and basic project management activities as proficiency increases.

About the role

This role is a hands‑on Electrical Engineering position supporting both engineering and field operations at Sulzer’s Pasadena, TX facility. The Electrical Engineer will split time between engineering team objectives, on‑site field service work, shop engineering support, and customer‑facing field service reporting. The position requires a balance of practical, hands‑on responsibilities and engineering tasks. Training will be provided as part of the onboarding process, and Sulzer supports cross‑disciplinary development to ensure long‑term success in the role.



  • Perform on‑site field service, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on electromechanical equipment

  • Prepare and deliver clear, timely field service reports to customers

  • Support shop‑based electromechanical projects and repairs

Job Requirements

0–4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field (entry‑level candidates welcome)



  • Exposure to or experience with:

  • Electric motor and generator repair, testing, or design

  • Transformer repair and design

  • Switchgear design, testing, and diagnostics

  • Power semiconductor devices

  • Solid understanding of basic power theory

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Operation of induction motors

  • Operation of synchronous motors

  • Transformer principles

  • Semiconductor operation

  • Winding insulation testing

  • Ability and willingness to perform hands‑on field and shop work

  • Strong written communication skills for technical and customer reports

  • Willingness to learn through on‑the‑job and cross‑disciplinary training
