Job summary

Clarke is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to produce design packages and provide input across project stages from sales to installation.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Project, and strong analytical skills for detailed design and documentation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, timely solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and engineering design software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project.
  • Understanding of engineering design processes and project management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective planning, prioritisation, and workload management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Translate and develop conceptual designs into designs meeting functional and contractual specifications.
  • Support sales stage by providing conceptual design and tender documents.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Design Engineer on project requirements and detailed design.
  • Coordinate with CAD draughtsman to meet timescales and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with Architect & Structural designer on detailed design development.
  • Provide support to Project Manager during installation, commissioning and testing.
  • Conduct site surveys as required.
  • Engage with customers and their representatives as needed.
  • Participate in HAZOP and risk assessment studies.
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies.

Job Purpose

To produce mechanical engineering design packages, providing input and support at all stages of a project from sales through to installation.



Responsibilities


  • Translate and develop conceptual designs into designs to meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders drawing out specifications, calculations and component selection.

  • Support and assist in the sales stage of a project by taking responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided to meet the timescales and quality standards required for presentation to the customer/potential customer.

  • Liaise with Electrical Design Engineer in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design.

  • Liaise with CAD draughtsman, coordinating and leading activity in order to ensure that the design packages are produced to the required timescales and standards of quality.

  • Liaise with Architect & Structural designer in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design.

  • Provide support to the Project Manager during the installation commissioning and testing phase of the project, ensuring the timely production of all necessary documentation.

  • Conduct site surveys where required.

  • Liaise as necessary with existing and potential customers and their representatives.

  • Participate, and where appropriate lead, HAZOP and risk assessment studies.

  • Ensure that there is full adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management policies and procedures in all work undertaken.



Technical Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering design software.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.

  • Understanding of engineering design processes and project management principles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Effective planning, prioritisation, and workload management capabilities.
