Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Phoenix is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of consulting experience to design HVAC and plumbing systems for diverse projects. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients from concept through construction, using Revit and AutoCAD to create layouts, calculations, and construction documents in line with codes.

You’ll also mentor junior staff and coordinate with internal and external teams to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires PE registration in Arizona or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from ABET-accredited program, ideally Architectural Engineering.
• 5+ years in consulting engineering.
• Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Familiar with Revit and AutoCAD; load calculations with Trane Trace or HAP.

We’re partnering with a long standing engineering firm based in Phoenix with 75+ years in the industry.

They focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology systems across a wide mix of projects including healthcare, education, aviation, and commercial spaces. The firm has built a loyal client base and is known for its practical approach to energy efficient design. They’re now looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their Phoenix team.

What you'll be doing:

Work with the mechanical team across projects from early concept through to construction

Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to define requirements and develop solutions

Design mechanical systems using Revit and AutoCAD

Prepare calculations, layouts, and construction documents in line with relevant codes and standards

Support client communication, site visits, and field investigations

Review submittals and stay involved through construction

Guide junior team members and help delegate design tasks

Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to keep projects on track

What we're looking for:

Registered PE in Arizona or equivalent experience

Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited program, ideally Architectural Engineering

5+ years in consulting engineering

Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems

Familiar with Trane Trace or HAP for load calculations

Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD

Understanding of HVAC layouts, controls, and basic plumbing systems

Comfortable using Excel, Word, and COMcheck

Strong communication skills and a team focused approach

Reliable, proactive, and committed to developing their skills
