This is a hybrid role with four days in the office, collaborating with clients and a multi-disciplinary team. Ideal candidates have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 5–7 years of experience, including HVAC design, AutoCAD, and Revit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year program.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects.
  • 5+ years of experience designing HVAC systems for buildings.
  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit capabilities.
  • Knowledge of NYC and national building codes.
  • EIT or PE license is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems including HVAC, distribution, ventilation, and controls.
  • Perform system design and load calculations.
  • Select equipment for building systems.
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and architects.
  • Attend meetings with clients and discuss design issues.
  • Manage small projects and maintain quality across work areas.

The Team

Our office in Philadelphia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with proven interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, our team focuses on building-system solutions for residential, commercial, performing arts, and higher education facilities. This is a hybrid position (4 days in office).

Role and Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controls
  • Perform system design calculations and load calculations
  • Select equipment for use in building systems
  • Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems
  • Report writing and specification preparation
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients, establish their needs, and discuss design issues with them
  • Manage a small project, work area, or technical skill set, monitor quality of work, and be involved in client liaison
Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects
  • 5+ years of experience designing HVAC systems for buildingsStrong AutoCAD, Revit capabilities
  • Strong fundamental understanding of NYC and national building codes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • EIT or PE license highly desirable
  • Solid analytical, quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking
  • Robust initiative and willingness to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in accessible ways, both verbally and in writing

The salary range for this position will be between $110,000- $125,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
