Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Oakland, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. You will design HVAC systems for data centers, commercial, telecom, education, and other sophisticated facilities, collaborating across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

The role requires 2–5 years in mechanical engineering, a BS/MS in the field, and EIT/PE exposure. Travel up to 40% to local client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2-5 years experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registration as EIT or PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs.
• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types.
• Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems.
• Perform Load/Energy calculations with a variety of software as dictated by Client standards.
• Write/edit project specifications
• Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
• Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
• Complete code compliance research
• Collaborate with teammates from other design disciplines to deliver a well-coordinated project.
• Provide construction administration services
• Perform QA/QC of design work

Job Summary

Our office in Oakland, CA is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment with primary responsibility to engineer and design projects for Data Centers, Commercial, Telecom, Education, and other highly sophisticated facilities.

Responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
