Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Oakland, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. You will design HVAC systems for data centers, commercial, telecom, education, and other facilities, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 2–5 years of experience, may be EIT or PE-registered, and is willing to travel up to 40% to local client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2-5 years experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registration as EIT or PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs.
• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types.
• Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems.
• Perform Load/Energy calculations with a variety of software as dictated by Client standards.
• Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings.
• Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies.
• Complete code compliance research.
• Collaborate with teammates from other design disciplines to deliver a well-coordinated project.
• Provide construction administration services.

Job Summary:

Our office in Oakland, CA is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment with primary responsibility to engineer and design projects for Data Centers, Commercial, Telecom, Education, and other highly sophisticated facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop HVAC system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types
• Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems
• Perform Load/Energy calculations with a variety of software as dictated by Client standards.
• Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
• Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
• Complete code compliance research
• Collaborate with teammates from other design disciplines to deliver a well-coordinated project.

Skills:

• Proficiency in using engineering tools and software including Autodesk software

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $105,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
