Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of axle housing and drivetrain components used across a variety of heavy equipment applications. Working closely with a Senior Design Engineer, this position will perform concept design, Creo 3D modeling, stress and life analysis, and assessment of part nonconformance risk. The role provides exposure to detailed component design as well as collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and global engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop concept designs and 3D part models using Creo.
  • Perform stress and life analysis on mechanical components.
  • Support evaluation of part nonconformances and associated engineering risk.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, suppliers, supplier development engineers, Quality, Operations, and other engineering partners.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; relevant manufacturing or automotive background preferred.
  • 2–4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Internships do not count toward the required experience.
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree must still have at least 2 years of experience.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Creo 3D modeling specifically; experience with another CAD platform alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Experience reading technical drawings and engineering prints.
  • Mechanical design experience and understanding of basic geometric tolerancing.
  • Strong communication, initiative, organization, and ability to work effectively with engineering teams and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Creo Simulate / FEA.
  • Experience designing steel or iron castings.
  • Knowledge of APQP.
  • Practical, hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an eagerness to learn.
Why This Role?

This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in specialized drivetrain component design while supporting products across a broad range of heavy equipment applications. You’ll work alongside an experienced engineering team and gain exposure to Creo design, structural analysis, cast components, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and global product-development activities.

Cullerton Group provides a professional environment with growth potential and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful engineering and design work supporting a global leader in heavy machinery and manufacturing.
