Job description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality / Test Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite full-time in Decatur, IL, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $35.47/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

Cullerton Group is seeking a hands-on Quality / Test Engineer to support manufacturing quality and assembly verification activities within a large-scale production environment. This role is highly floor-focused, working directly with drivetrain components, assembly processes, and quality audits to ensure safety, quality, cost, and delivery standards are met. The engineer will serve as a key link between physical assembly operations and engineering systems, identifying issues and driving corrective actions. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined engineer who enjoys being on the factory floor and collaborating across multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform onsite quality audits of active assembly processes
  • Inspect drivetrain components and verify part and process quality
  • Document observations, issues, and findings clearly and concisely
  • Capture photos and data related to critical parts and processes
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective action efforts
  • Communicate issues and recommendations to cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, operations, and engineering groups
  • Support continuous improvement and quality culture initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related) or Associate’s degree with relevant experience
  • 0+ years of experience (internships accepted)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing environments
  • Experience or exposure to quality inspection or manufacturing processes
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Willingness to work primarily on the factory floor (approx. 90% floor / 10% office)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturing or industrial engineering background
  • Experience with quality audits, inspections, or assembly verification
