Job summary

Veolia Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support dewatering and maintenance solutions on wastewater sites, primarily in Mobile, AL. This role involves working as part of a team to carry out complex repairs and overhauls, ensuring the efficient operation of essential equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 NVQ in mechanical engineering, a full UK Driving Licence, and hands-on maintenance experience. Qualifications

The Mechanical Engineer supports Veolia Dewatering and Maintenance Solutions on water company wastewater sites, offering a fantastic opportunity for existing field service engineers seeking new challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team of mechanical engineers or fitters across multiple sites (often two engineers per site)
  • Carry out complex and detailed asset overhauls and replacements
  • Undertake mechanical repairs and modifications to dewatering equipment, pumps, pipework, valves and ancillary equipment
  • Inspect, service and repair customers’ dewatering assets and machines
  • Install pipework using plastic, stainless steel and mild steel
  • Provide standby cover and overtime as required, and flexibility to work away from home
  • Complete test reports, installation certificates and customer feedback documents
  • Prepare customer paperwork such as permits to work and safety documentation
  • Work alongside on‑site customer teams and liaise as the first point of contact
  • Lead maintenance and repair of dewatering equipment and ancillaries on sewage and clean water treatment facilities
  • Ensure energy‑efficient operation of assets, minimise downtime and pollution risks
  • Reduce raw material usage by completing thorough maintenance tasks and performing first‑time fixes
Qualifications
  • NVQ or a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering maintenance at Level3
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Hands‑on engineering maintenance experience
  • Desirable: Complex Trained, Confined Space Trained, First Aid Trained, Clean Water Qualification, SHEA Water Qualification, IOSH Managing Safely, DSEAR Awareness, PASMA Trained
