Job Description

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer based in the Louisville, KY area for a large-scale industrial project starting immediately. This role combines remote work with on-site responsibilities, including taking field measurements and coordinating with our local field/sales representative.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager but will be assigned to specific projects under the supervision of the Mechanical Project Engineer.
• Create clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on the project scope, specifications, and estimates, including purchase components and fabrication material call outs.
• Design mechanical equipment according to the project scope, specifications, and estimates.
• Incorporate standards, specifications, customer, local, state, and national codes, and safety regulations into drawings.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with electrical and controls teams, including describing equipment operation and integrating electrical control devices into the design.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for the purchase and fabrication of mechanical components.
• Collaborate with other departments such as sales/estimators, project management, fabrication, safety, and installation.
• Check drawings for accuracy and thoroughness, including self-checking your own work.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical engineering knowledge
• Proficiency in design software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
• Experience in the Automotive Industry
• Experience in Conveyor or Material Handling Industry

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in Louisville, KY, with some days visiting the plant for field measurements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits, which may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and specific plan terms.
