Senior Engineer / Senior Designer – Las Vegas Office

(There are also mid level positions available with differing responsibilities)

A leading national architecture and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Engineer/Senior Designer to support its growing Las Vegas practice. This individual will contribute technical expertise, mentor developing staff, and play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of building types and project scopes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of design documents, drawings, system layouts, schematics, and specifications ranging from simple to highly complex.
  • Lead project and design efforts from early conceptual development through final completion.
  • Review shop drawings to verify alignment with project plans and specifications.
  • Research systems, equipment, and design strategies; provide feasibility recommendations.
  • Evaluate products for appropriate applications within project requirements.
  • Develop solutions to complex engineering and design challenges, either independently or in an advisory capacity.
  • Ensure all deliverables—including drawings, reports, analyses, and specifications—meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Mentor and guide less‑experienced designers and engineers while providing technical oversight.
  • Direct technical and administrative staff as needed.
  • Support technical leadership in setting goals, standards, and best practices across the practice or sector.
  • Contribute to the development of internal tools, resources, and company methodologies.
  • Uphold and promote engineering and design standards within the team.
  • Oversee quality reviews and project check‑ins; may conduct final reviews for assigned projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners, clients, and industry professionals to support business development.
  • Participate in client, firm, and industry events to foster strong professional networks.
  • Communicate proactively with clients throughout the project lifecycle, including scope development, coordination, and addressing questions.
  • Serve as a resource for fact‑finding, technical inquiries, and cross‑disciplinary problem‑solving.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors.
  • Support project management responsibilities alongside experienced project managers.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, A&E industry practices, codes, design guides, and applicable standards.
  • Strong understanding of earned value concepts, construction processes, contracts, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu (required).
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license (required).
  • High technical aptitude and the ability to learn and apply firm‑specific systems and workflows.
  • Ability to train others effectively on processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff, and work within a highly cooperative environment.
