The Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, and integration of innovative products and systems within the recreational vehicle (RV) industry. This role works at the intersection of advanced engineering concepts, manufacturability, assembly sequence, and customer experience to drive solutions that improve assembly efficiency, enhance quality, and deliver lasting value to the end user. You’ll take ownership of complex projects from concept through production launch, leveraging both hands‑on design work and cross‑functional collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design of RV components, assemblies, and systems from concept to production.
  • Applying key DFMA (Design For Manufacturing and Assembly) principles throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with FEA, electrical, industrial, and manufacturing engineering reams to ensure appropriate integrated solutions.
  • Support and influence the early stages of product development through the “fuzzy front end” with creative and practical ideas.
  • Evaluate and implement new materials, joining methods, and fabrication technologies.
  • Resolving complex production challenges through root cause analysis and engineering changes.
  • Oversee validation of designs through simulation, lab testing, prototyping, and production implementation.
  • Using test data to refine designs and confirm compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Supporting warranty reduction initiatives through design improvements and validation of countermeasures.
  • Mentor junior engineering and provide technical guidance within the department.
  • Creation of 3D models from scratch and following through production with release of engineering drawings.
  • Supporting the prototype build from conception through implementation.
  • Works closely with internal cross‑functional teams, contractors, suppliers, and outside vendors to achieve desired results.
  • Develop and refine skills related to operations improvements to support both project execution and training of operational staff.
  • Travel will be necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related degree required.
  • 4-7 years of related work experience required.
  • Proven proficiency in mechanical system design, mechanical engineering drawing creation, MS Office, and MS Visio, SolidWorks and 2D AutoCAD.
  • Experience in leading teams during new product or process design implementation is a must.
  • Experience with plastic extrusions and injection molding is a must.
  • The ability to operate standard hand and measurement tools is a must.
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry or a related industry, preferred.
