Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 2 year W2 contract onsite in Greensboro, NC. The role focuses on cost-effective mechanical design improvements and CAD-driven redesigns to optimize manufacturing and BOM efficiency.

The candidate will work with sourcing to identify lower-cost materials, conduct structural/thermal/flow testing, and ensure safety standards compliance for fuel systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in fluid handling or high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD software (CREO or SolidWorks).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, casting).
• Familiarity with safety standards for hazardous locations or fuel systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing fuel dispensing assemblies for cost savings.
• Redesign mechanical components using CAD software to simplify manufacturing and reduce part counts.
• Collaborate with sourcing teams to find lower-cost materials and suppliers.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid flow testing to meet standards.
• Ensure modifications comply with UL, ATEX, NFPA safety regulations.
• Support prototype builds, line trials, and ramp-up.
• Document design changes, BOM updates, and test results.

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 2 year W2 contract position onsite in Greensboro, NC.

Pay Range: $50.00 to $70.00 per hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Analyze existing fuel dispensing assemblies for material, manufacturing, and assembly cost savings.
• Redesign mechanical components using CAD software (CREO) to simplify manufacturing and reduce part counts.
• Collaborate with sourcing teams to find lower-cost, high-quality alternative materials and suppliers.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid flow testing to ensure redesigned parts meet industry performance standards.
• Ensure all equipment modifications comply with safety regulations like UL, ATEX, and NFPA.
• Support prototype builds, assembly line trials, and initial production ramp-up.
• Document design changes, BOM (Bill of Materials) updates, and test results clearly.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in fluid handling, petroleum equipment, or high-volume manufacturing. OR SIMILAR
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Creo preferred).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes like injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and casting.
• Understanding of value engineering (Value Analysis/Value Engineering - VAVE) principles and cost-down methodologies.
• Familiarity with safety standards for hazardous locations or fuel systems.
