Job summary

Helion Group is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead capital projects from concept through startup on our manufacturing floor. You will partner with operations, maintenance, contractors and engineering to improve safety, reliability and production performance.

Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, equipment specs, installation oversight, and commissioning. Strong communication and cross-functional coordination are essential to drive projects to successful handoff to operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of project engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Proven track record delivering capital projects from design through startup.
• Strong understanding of pumps, piping, rotating equipment, conveyors, HVAC, utilities.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Able to read P&IDs, equipment drawings and construction documents.
• Solid project management, communication and organizational skills.
• Able to work both on office and manufacturing floor environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate equipment modifications, facility improvements and process upgrades.

• Review drawings, vendor submittals and technical documentation.
• Minimize downtime during installations with maintenance and operations.
• Drive project execution with safety, quality and environmental standards compliance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement reliability improvements.
• Coordinate vendors, suppliers and engineering firms; support startup, commissioning, testing and validation.
