Job summary

Helion Group is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead capital projects from planning through startup in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will own project scopes, schedules, budgets, and contractor performance while coordinating with operations and maintenance on the plant floor.

You’ll develop equipment specifications, review drawings and vendor submittals, and drive safe, reliable installations that improve safety, reliability and production performance across facilities in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of project engineering in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience managing capital projects from design through startup.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, piping, rotating equipment, conveyors, HVAC, utilities, and process equipment.
• Experience with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional operations teams.
• Ability to read P&IDs, equipment drawings, layouts, and construction documents.
• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Comfortable on both office and plant floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical capital projects from planning through commissioning and handoff to operations.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and contractor performance.
• Develop equipment specifications and oversee installation of new manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate equipment modifications, facility improvements, and process upgrades.
• Support equipment selection, layout, piping, HVAC, utilities, structural interfaces, and material handling systems.
• Review engineering drawings, vendor submittals, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with maintenance and operations to minimize downtime during installations.
• Drive project execution while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement long-term reliability improvements.
• Coordinate vendors, suppliers, and engineering firms throughout project execution.
• Support equipment startup, commissioning, testing, and performance validation.
