Job description

Staff Project Engineer - Mechanical / Civil
The Company

My client is a fast-growing, VC-backed industrial technology business in the clean energy space. They're running commercial operations across multiple US sites and are now building out their next generation of production facilities.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on role for an engineer with a mix of mechanical and civil experience, ideally gained in oil & gas or a similar industrial setting. You'll be the technical lead on major facility builds, taking process and equipment concepts through to finished plants that are safe, buildable and ready to scale.

You'll work across process, electrical, controls, construction and operations teams, as well as with vendors, contractors and outside engineering firms. You don't need to be an expert in every discipline, but you should know how industrial facilities come together and be able to drive decisions from concept through commissioning.

What You'll Do
  • Lead engineering on facility projects from concept through construction and commissioning
  • Develop plant and equipment layouts around process flow, utilities, access, safety and future expansion
  • Oversee mechanical scopes and coordinate civil/structural, site and utility work
  • Manage deliverables from consultants, EPCs, contractors and equipment vendors
  • Review drawings and specs for quality, constructability and operability
  • Solve field engineering problems during construction and startup
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil or a related engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of engineering experience on industrial facilities, energy projects or heavy infrastructure
  • Experience across both mechanical and civil scopes
  • Track record delivering projects through design, construction and/or commissioning
  • Experience managing contractors, EPCs or equipment vendors
Nice to Have
  • PE license, or FE passed and working toward PE
  • Oil & gas experience (upstream, midstream or injection sites)
  • Greenfield builds or major plant expansions
  • Hands-on field experience in construction, commissioning or plant operations
Package
  • $140,000 - $176,000 base
  • Stock options
  • Fully covered employee healthcare premiums, plus dental and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid leave, PPE allowance and professional development budget
