Job summary

Gilbert Mechanical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design complex HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects in a collaborative design-build environment. You will partner with project managers, field personnel, architects, and owners to develop innovative and cost-effective mechanical solutions from concept through construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of building codes and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Strong communication and ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations for commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Design and layout HVAC, process piping, and plumbing systems using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and gather project information.
  • Coordinate system design with architectural, structural, electrical and other trades.
  • Participate in project meetings with customers, architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts and construction-related issues.
  • Support project teams throughout planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and project partners.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and industry standards.

Gilbert Mechanical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to design complex HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects in a collaborative design-build environment. The successful candidate will partner with project managers, field personnel, architects, and owners to develop innovative and cost-effective mechanical solutions from concept through construction.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with design-build project delivery.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, Sysque, and Trane Trace software.
  • Piping and/or sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Cost estimating or preconstruction experience.

Base Salary: $75k-$95k. This role may be eligible for participation in discretionary bonus plan based on company and individual performance.

Notes: Actual compensation will be based on skills, experience, and work location, and may vary from the posted range. Hiring bonuses (and any guaranteed year-end bonuses) are administered under Company policy and are not earned until all stated conditions are met (e.g., active employment on the payment date).
