Job summary

1st St. NW Inc. in Minnesota seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the full systems design of industrial automation projects and to interface directly with customers.

You will develop 3D models in SolidWorks, perform FEA analyses, and guide cross-functional teams to achieve performance, cost, and manufacturability goals. Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of post‑graduate experience, with strong skills in machine design, CAD modeling, FEA, and customer engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or similar.
• 7+ years of post-graduate experience.
• Strong machine design and systems design experience.
• Experience interfacing directly with customers.
• 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.
• Strong finite element analysis (FEA) experience; ANSYS a plus.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Defense industry experience a plus but not required.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Duties:

• Lead the complete systems design of industrial automation systems
• Design and analyze (FEA) precision machined components
• Interface directly with customers and customer engineers in gathering specifications, answering technical questions, and conducting technical product presentations
• Lead cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals
• Prepare 3D models (using Solidworks)
• Lead design reviews

Requirements:
