Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, and construction activities. Qualifications

  • 5+ years of facilities experience and mechanical systems knowledge.

  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
  • HS diploma or GED; degree and certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases with engineers and support staff.
  • Manage project design or construction, including schedule, funding, and day‑to‑day oversight; evaluate contractor performance.
  • Coordinate with field personnel; evaluate change requests and provide weekly status reports.
  • Ensure MAXIMO data entry and integration of buildings systems (HVAC, plumbing).

Job description

Mechanical Engineer

Provide engineering review, coordination, and oversight for operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work and oversee and coordinate activities with trade shops, including prioritizing work, reviewing ongoing projects, inspecting installed equipment, and overseeing and coordinating work orders, service orders, and projects. Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant projects and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. Manage project design or construction efforts, including schedule, funding, and day-to-day project oversight, manage and evaluate construction contractor performance, integrate and coordinate projects with field personnel, evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests, and provide official weekly project status reports. Assist the client’s contracting officer (CO) and contracting officer’s technical representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution, and administration, assist the CO and COTR with conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site visits with the COTR, provide invoice supporting information to the COTR for payment, and prepare and monitor project schedules. Provide technical guidance and assistance on contracting and construction issues, direct design efforts, recommend construction documents for approval, and oversee any follow‑on maintenance programs. Optimize performance, cost, and schedule by ensuring project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements. Ensure timely input of all data, comments, and documentation into the MAXIMO software project management tool. Ensure the integration of all systems, including building or facilities, HVAC, and plumbing.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a facilities professional
  • 2+ years of experience in an assigned field, including mechanical systems or construction
  • Experience with the implementation or execution of design documents
  • Experience reviewing design documentation and identifying deficiencies, inaccuracies, and noncompliance issues with the design intent
  • Ability to evaluate conditions and draft engineering memos that provide sound engineering guidance consistent with industry best practices and all federal, state, and local codes
  • Ability to review and perform engineering calculations
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • HS diploma or GED
Nice To Have
  • Experience with MAXIMO
  • Experience with new and existing building systems
  • Experience with site surveys and calculations
  • Knowledge of the ASHRAE standards, International Building Code, and pertinent NFPA publications related to mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of the CAD systems, AutoCAD, or REVIT
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • LEED Certification
  • EIT Certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
