Innova Solutions Inc. is seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer in Carlsbad, CA, for a full-time contract-to-hire role. You will own large parts of the system, lead design activities, and work hands-on with precision hardware in a lab environment.

Ideal candidates have Creo CAD experience, GD&T knowledge, and a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams through design reviews, tests, and integration activities, with a focus on performance, size, weight, and power optimizations.

Responsibilities

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Mechanical Engineer. Position Type: Full Time Contract, Contract to hire Duration: 12 months Location: Carlsbad, CA 92008

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will: We are looking for a driven mechanical engineer to perform process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro‑mechanical hardware, in a program team environment. Candidate is expected to own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the program evolves. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required. Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplined team environment. Candidate must be willing to work within a lab environment and be hands‑on with hardware.

Essential Functions

• Provide regular communication and briefings, both formally and informally, to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
• Generation of Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.).
• Prototype, Integrate, and Test component parts and assemblies.
• Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
• Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems.
• Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews.
• Participate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changes.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviews.
• Adhere to company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
• Direct Designers/ Technicians/Operators as part of a design team.
• Support field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representative.
• Other duties as assigned.

This Position Needs Active TS/SCI with CI Poly.

Ideal candidate will have

• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• Comfortable collecting technical concepts and presenting them to program leadership.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms, mechatronic systems, and/or packaging of modules and electronics with considerations of thermal and structural loading and for optimizations of size, weight, and power.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
• Experience in additive manufacturing, part optimization, and design for manufacture and assembly a plus.
• Experience with any of the following: actuators, custom gear trains, electro‑optical systems, materials testing, and manufacturing processes.

Pay Range*: $75-$76 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
