Mechanical Engineer – Food Production Mechanical Engineer

Do you have knowledge in advanced energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies in the food processing sector? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for the Food Production Unit in the Sustainability & Resilience Branch (SRB) of the Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD).
Our Food Production Mechanical Engineer conducts technical analyses and performs project management functions in the planning, development, and implementation of the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Food Production Investment Program (FPIP) to accelerate the adoption of advanced energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies that support electric grid reliability and maximize the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions within the California food processing sector.
ERDD deploys over $300 million annually to advance technology innovation and research supporting the state’s clean energy and climate goals, including in the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.
The Sustainability and Resilience Branch (SRB) invests in projects and applied research that increase community energy resilience and reliability, accelerate food production decarbonization, and support California's transition to a climate-resilient, equitable, and sustainable zero-carbon energy system. The Food Production Unit implements the FPIP, including overseeing the program’s planning, development, and implementation.
** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting in this position.
