We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support early-stage product development and help determine the technical feasibility of upcoming product concepts.
In this role, you’ll work on projects before the product is fully defined, building and testing proof-of-concepts, identifying technical challenges, and helping the broader engineering team determine the best path forward.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building things, experimenting, testing, analyzing data, and solving problems where there isn't always a clear answer yet.
What You'll Do
- Develop functional proof-of-concept (POC) prototypes by adapting components from existing products and creating or modifying parts as needed
- Use creative, hands-on approaches to quickly determine whether a concept is technically feasible
- Think at the system level, understanding how mechanical, electrical, thermal, and other components interact
- Identify unresolved technical issues and develop ways to investigate and solve them
- Design and execute tests to answer specific technical questions
- Work with thermocouples, current clamps, and electromechanical systems
- Apply fundamental heat transfer and thermal engineering principles to evaluate product concepts
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to determine how a system is performing and what should happen next
- Document findings and provide clear written and verbal updates to project management and cross-functional teams
- Work independently in an environment where requirements and specifications may still be evolving
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical Engineering background with hands-on product development or engineering experience
- Strong prototype development and hands-on problem-solving skills
- Experience working with electromechanical systems
- Experience designing and executing engineering tests
- Understanding of thermal fundamentals and heat transfer
- Familiarity with thermocouples, current clamps, and other test equipment
- Ability to analyze experimental data and translate findings into engineering decisions
- Strong communication and technical reporting skills
- Comfortable working independently and navigating ambiguous problems
- Creative, resourceful approach to solving technical challenges
