We are seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to support mechanical testing, validation, troubleshooting, and failure analysis activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with mechanical components and systems, including component tear-down, identifying failure modes, troubleshooting issues, and conducting testing and validation.
This role requires a practical, hands-on engineering approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and support mechanical testing and validation of components and systems.
- Perform component tear-downs/disassembly, inspection, and documentation of findings.
- Conduct failure analysis to identify failure modes, root causes, and contributing factors.
- Troubleshoot mechanical components, systems, and test-related issues.
- Develop and execute test procedures based on engineering requirements and test objectives.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to evaluate component and system performance.
- Document test results, failure observations, root-cause findings, and recommendations.
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Support the development and improvement of testing methods, procedures, and processes.
- Investigate unexpected test results and recommend corrective or design improvements.
- Maintain accurate test documentation, reports, and engineering records.
- Follow applicable engineering, laboratory, safety, and quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in mechanical testing, validation, troubleshooting, or failure analysis.
- Hands-on experience with component tear-down and inspection.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, systems, and failure mechanisms.
- Experience performing root-cause/failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work hands-on in a test/lab or engineering environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial, automotive, heavy equipment, machinery, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with structured failure-analysis methodologies and root-cause investigation.
- Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, or mechanical test equipment.
- Familiarity with engineering change processes and technical documentation.
- Experience analyzing test data and preparing technical reports.
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical testing standards and procedures.
