Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to partner with the Engineering Team in researching, designing, and developing efficient manufacturing processes for both small components and large machinery.

The role emphasizes CAD-based fabrication and assembly drawings, design testing, and compliance with EPA/OSHA regulations. You will lead project work, collaborate across departments, and support union-maintenance staff as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years in manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in CAD (2D/3D) for fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Summary/Objective: The Mechanical Engineer partners with the Engineering Team to research, design and develop efficient manufacturing processes including fabrication, assembling, and building of small components as well as large machinery. This role includes designing test methods to ensure system capabilities with a result of quality product.Specific Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Researches, designs, evaluates, installs, operates, and maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principlesDesigns and implements cost-effective machine and/or equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, and throughput; develops design ideas using CAD softwareWorks out the loads and stresses on different parts of a structure and uses computer simulations to predict how structures will react under different conditionsDevelops, tests, and evaluates theoretical designsCreates detailed drawings for fabrication and assembly of componentsCommunicates with vendors to obtain quotations for purchasing components; inspects components upon arrival to ensure quality controlRecommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctionsPlans and designs new productions processes; produces details of specifications and outline designsDesigns test control apparatus and equipment and develops procedures for testing products.Works with state and federal agencies to ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations with regards to equipment installations and/or other facility processes; ensures projects meet legal requirements, environmental directives, and health and safety requirementsMaintains an awareness of external product and process technology, including those of competitors, through external networks (i.e., academia, suppliers, customers, research institutes, etc.), literature study, technical meetings, and conferences; incorporates this information into the development of new productsIdentifies areas of opportunity to ensure the Company remains competitive within the marketplace.Supports any efforts to maintain high-quality standards as defined by BRC and other plant-wide initiatives to help the parent-company, local company, and the department.Manage projects well and complete other duties as assigned in an accurate and timely manner.Supports Union Maintenance Mechanics, Electricians, and Maintenance Service Technicians on workorders as needed with production and facility equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.Competencies and Qualifications:Adaptability: Responds effectively to change, shifting priorities, and evolving business and customer needs.
