CEMCO, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in California, Missouri to provide hands-on engineering support and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This full-time role will involve designing machinery components, improving processes, and collaborating with various teams to enhance operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing. Key skills include proficiency in SolidWorks and effective communication abilities.
This full-time position provides hands‑on engineering support to plant operations and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Key responsibilities include partnering with cross‑functional teams to support lean manufacturing efforts, improve processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency. The role also includes designing machinery components and tooling, troubleshooting production‑related issues, and identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing performance.
The Mechanical Engineer is expected to rely on their extensive experience and expertise to fulfill the functions of the role with minimal supervision. This position requires the customary and regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the following essential duties:
Educational experience requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. On a case‑by‑case basis, the Company will consider individuals with the equivalent practical knowledge to this degree. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment is also required.
Language: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, create, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; ability to clearly communicate technical requirements to production, maintenance, quality, suppliers, and vendors.
Computer: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) for parts/assemblies and production drawings. Familiarity with manufacturing systems/ERP for routings, work orders, and part master data; ability to analyze and summarize production/quality data using Excel (e.g., pivot tables and charts).
Reasoning: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues using structured problem‑solving and root cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone); ability to evaluate risk and manufacturability considerations and support corrective/preventive actions; ability to prioritize work, make sound recommendations, and support implementation in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Other: Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; effective cross‑functional teamwork and shop‑floor engagement; attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement; ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation and follow established procedures.
Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), GD&T (ASME Y14.5) training/certification, and SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP) certification are a plus.
