Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Aiken, SC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop design documentation, release control, and create components for high output diesel and gas engines used in mobile and stationary applications. You will produce detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, lead cross-functional communication, manage design changes, and apply GD&T and Windchill PLM standards.

Requires a bachelor's in Automotive/Mechanical engineering with 3 years design or 7 years development/test experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive, Mechanical (or equivalent) with 3 years design experience or 7 years development/design/test engineering experience for battery, fuel cell, or electrolyzer products.
  • Experience with 3D CAD for cast parts.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering processes and procedures.
  • Experience with PLM software such as Windchill.
  • Excellent analytical ability for complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate engineering designs following industry and corporate standards.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and BOMs.
  • Develop detailed design drawings with GD&T and standards.
  • Lead communication with production, quality, vendors and customers.
  • Manage design change requests from initiation to implementation.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer generates complete design documentation packages and is responsible for design release control. This position designs components and subsystems for high output diesel and gas engines used in both mobile and stationary applications.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and evaluate engineering designs (including subsystems) following industry and corporate standards
  • Creation of detailed 3D CAD models according to design standards or specifications
  • Develop detailed design drawings with appropriate application of standards, norms, and GD&T specifications
  • Designs must maintain high level of accuracy
  • Proficient use of PLM software (windchill)
  • Lead overall communication, coordination and consultation with production, quality, vendors, and customers
  • Develop complex assembly drawings for new product BOM creation
  • Manage design change requests from initiation to implementation
  • Implement improvement measures for manufacturing based on supplier, production, or customer feedback
  • Determine validation/inspection plan for new or revised components
  • Conduct inspection and/or validation of first article components using precision tools, or coordination of 3rd party involvement
  • Create post-inspection report for part evaluation
Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive, Mechanical (or equivalent) plus 3 years of design experience or 7 years of development, design or test engineering experience for battery, fuel cell, or electrolyzer products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D CAD involving cast part design
  • Strong knowledge of drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering processes and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of GD&T, can interpret effect on component design
  • Experience with PLM software such as Windchill
  • Excellent analytical ability where problems may be unusual or difficult

$73,120 - $118,820-Annually
